New Backup and Disaster Recovery Methods

A virus, hardware failure, natural disaster or simple human error could wipe out your most important files.

I am often asked about the different methods of data protection. I have outlined some critical points below. To be fully protected we recommend using all 4 of these services. No client’s needs are exactly the same. We would be happy to do a customized review with you. Each one of these items protects you in a different way.

1. Disaster Recovery Images via Crown Imaging Services.
We image your entire server to insure you against an unfortunate hardware failure and data loss. This image helps you get data restored or an entire server restored quickly. Two of our customers were happy they had this service. They both faced hardware failure but were saved by this service. We were able to restore their server operating systems and data from the images we had. In these cases a tape backup system would have failed to get them back up quickly because the tapes only contain data and not Operating systems and installed software. Email sean@crowncomputers.com to ask about their success stories. This service saved them $10,000 in productivity. This service is also very helpful for workstation recovery.

2. Critical Offsite Data Storage via Crown Nightly Offsite Backup Services
Your most important data needs to get offsite every night! Our newly launched service transmits your critical data to a secure location every night. This is only for critical data that changes daily such as your accounting data, your Customer files, or important mailboxes. Click here for more information.

3. Complete Offsite data Storage via Crown Monthly Offsite Backup Services.
All of your server images and data images are taken offsite monthly. This is much more data than can be transmitted offsite nightly. We come out onsite and take your last month’s data images back to our headquarters. This way we have complete images of everything for the past month stored off-site.

4. Folder Redirection. A common mistake is for users to store critical data in folders that are not set for backup. Make sure all of your valuable data is stored on the server and not on a workstation desktop. Employees should save data to a directory that is on the server. Users should be trained to not save important documents on their desktops and local workstations. We can do an assessment of your data and redirect every users’ my documents to the server.

We recommend a plan that combines all of these methods to really protect your company’s valuable data. Using these 4 methods you are employing the best backup plan possible. If you sign up for these plans, we also watch to make sure all these backup jobs get done successfully. We also can provide you with Daily reports upon request so you can rest assured your backups are getting done. Please call 858-483-8770 or email sean@crowncomputers.com for a personalized backup and disaster recovery assessment.
